6 Simple Steps to Twitter Transcendence – Part One
Twitter is the fastest growing social media site, bar none. Although Facebook grows a Twitter’s worth of new people every 30 days, Twitter enables you to get your message quickly to more people than any other social media website.
If your not using Twitter on a daily basis, your missing out on an ideal opportunity to socialize with your clients and create interest in your niche, products or services as well as adding to SEO and your online reputation.
Now before you tell me “I don’t have enough time” or “I’m not into that computer stuff” well your competitors ARE interested and the market leaders in your field have been using Twitter, Facebook and Youtube for longer and more successfully than you and they’re taking their Tweets to the BANK! Social Media may change over the months or years but is NOT going to go away!
Now before you give up on me and decide that your comfortable with just sliding by and getting just enough clients to survive, think about what you really want. Do you want to be able to get more clients, or to sell more products and services? Do you want to make more money this year and succeed when other businesses give in to the economy? I thought so. Now we can get down to the business of Twitter.
Step 1: To be a market leader in your field doesn’t mean you’re necessarily the first one out of the gate. Remember that the 3rd horse is the one that makes the trifecta more valuable than the other two horses! The most important part to all of this is to simply get started!
First I’ll show you how to sign up on Twitter. Type in your REAL full name and your username, which is the name your Twitter account will be such as http://twitter.com/jimedward or jimedward. I would suggest making your first Twitter username your REAL name as well. Write in your password, email, and captcha, then click the “Create my account” button.
Step 2: Skip the second and third screens (”See if your friends are on Twitter” and ” Look who else is here”) We’ll add followers later.
Step 3: Click on the settings link at the top of the page. Fill in all the blanks authentically. Make your Bio compelling enough for people to be interested in you, NOT about what you sell, what you service, or how much money you make. You will have a difficult time finding unique social followers if you do. If you don’t have a Facebook Fan Page go to my videos on Facebook Optimization. Set you’re Fan page up and use a sub-domain or URL shortening website to create a smaller url to put in your “More Info URL” section.
Step 4: Add your picture. Make sure it’s really you in that picture, preferably smiling, and make sure it is under 800k.
Step 5: Pick a background and click on “save changes”.
Step 6: Click on the “home” link at the top of the page and Tweet at least 10 times before you even follow anyone. This is very important! You want to fill the site at least 10 tweets deep before anyone will consider you a person worth following. Make sure your Tweets are less than 140 characters long and they are NOT about selling anything. Your time to market will come later.
